The Installation

How your curb gets made — step by step.

Every Lazy Curb edge is poured fresh on site and shaped by machine into one continuous, seamless border. Here's exactly what happens on install day.

1

Layout & Marking

We mark your bed lines with paint and string, following every curve and contour. You approve the exact line before anything is cut — curbing can follow a radius as tight as three feet.

2

Ground Preparation

We cut and remove the sod along the path and prepare a clean, firm, level base so your curb sits solid and true for decades.

3

Mixing

We mix a stiff, freeze-thaw-rated concrete on site, with your integral colour blended right in — so the colour runs all the way through, never just painted on top.

BUILT FOR ALBERTA WINTERS
4

Machine Extrusion

The mix is fed into our curb machine, which shapes and packs it into a smooth, continuous border in your chosen profile — with a steel cable running through the centre for strength.

5

Hand Finishing & Stamping

We trowel every foot by hand for a clean finish, then add your texture, stamp pattern, or accent colour while the concrete is still workable.

6

Control Joints

We cut expansion joints every few feet — the key detail that keeps your curb crack-free through freeze and thaw cycles.

7

Cure & Seal

Once cured, we apply a UV-rated acrylic sealer that locks in colour, repels water, and protects against the elements. Your curb is walk-ready in hours and rock-solid within a day.

8

Walkthrough & Cleanup

We clean up, tuck your mulch back into the beds, and walk the finished job with you — most installs wrapped in a single day.

Clear, upfront, and built to last.

Decorative concrete curbing is a durable product that lasts for years. So you know exactly what to expect, here's how to care for your new curb, our terms, and what's covered. Our goal is to be 100% transparent.

Caring for Your New Curb +
  • Keep pets, children, and objects off the curb for at least 24 hours. It feels hard to the touch quickly, but still needs several days to fully harden inside.
  • Sod, sprinkler, and landscape work can begin 48 hours after installation — but use caution, as shovels and wheelbarrows can damage curing curbing. A full cure takes 28 days.
  • If a landscaper is working for you, ask them to protect the curb. When hauling rock over it, build a dirt mound (6"+) or a ramp to spread the weight. Never let a tractor, bobcat, or truck drive over the curb.
  • In hot, dry weather, lightly mist the curb and the ground beneath it. Slow curing builds strength.
  • Turn off sprinkler systems for 48 hours after installation — rain is fine once sealed, but sprinkler spray can damage a fresh curb.
  • Coloured curbing can look slightly splotchy for a few days while curing. This evens out as it cures.
  • A small amount of excess concrete is left on the ground between the new curb and the grass. After 24 hours it lifts away in small pieces — clearing it lets your grass grow back to the edge.
Terms & Conditions +
  • Booking your appointment confirms your agreement to these terms. Please read them carefully.
  • Final billing is based on an accurate measurement taken after installation. Minimum charge is 75 linear feet.
  • Payment is due upon completion. Please have payment ready for the installer, or arrange it in advance if you won't be home.
  • We can't guarantee your install date. Curbing is very weather-sensitive and rain or soggy ground often shifts the schedule. We appreciate your patience — we can't control the weather.
  • Please give at least 72 hours' notice to cancel or reschedule. Short-notice cancellations may be subject to a fee.
  • All sprinkler heads, lights, wires, and buried items must be clearly marked by the homeowner before we arrive. We aren't responsible for damage to unmarked objects. Property boundaries are the homeowner's responsibility to mark.
  • Protecting the fresh concrete after our crew leaves is the homeowner's responsibility.
  • Sod removal options (priced per the pricing section): sod cutting and ground prep, and sod hauling/disposal.
Warranty +
  • We provide a 6-month warranty against defects in material and workmanship, extended to 12 months when the cable reinforcement system is installed. Warranty does not cover third-party damage.
  • Concrete can and will crack. We take every precaution — fibre reinforcement, quality additives, and control joints roughly every two feet to give cracks a strategic relief point. In our harsh climate, occasional cracking between joints can still happen. This is covered only within the season the curb was installed; crack-repair claims must be reported before October 31 of the install year.
  • Winter freeze-thaw surface damage is not covered. When moisture in concrete freezes and expands it can chip, pit, spot, or spall the surface and sealer. It's an undesirable reality of Alberta winters, caused by weather rather than materials or workmanship. A fresh coat of (optionally tinted) sealer usually rectifies it.
  • Damage to sprinkler lines, wires, or other buried items by our equipment is not our responsibility and must be marked before we arrive.
  • We make no guarantee of colour. Colouring decorative concrete is an art, not a science — many factors affect it, and we can't replace curbing for colour concerns.
  • It's the customer's responsibility to read and understand the warranty before installation. A copy is always available online and on request.
Sealing & Long-Term Care +
  • At installation, your curb is sealed with two coats of acrylic sealer.
  • To protect your investment, we recommend re-sealing every 2 years. We can reseal for a fee, or you can do it yourself with a pro-grade re-sealing kit (see pricing).
  • Hairline cracks can be repaired with a colour-matched non-sanded grout and resealed — far less noticeable than removing and replacing a section.
